Ah, the Good Old days...White Dwarf

Hi guys, today I'm going to be a bit nostalgic.

I've been in the hobby since I was 7, A longish time I would say. I started reading the old white dwarves, in 2001. I enjoyed them, but Because I wasn't (and still aren't) very rich, I had to give it up. But I cant help but get a surge of nostalgia when I flick through the worn, tea stained pages. As I got more money I decided to start white dwarf again, but I was kind of saddened by the fact that there were less painting articles, modelling articles, fluff publishing and chapter approved and more adverts. I didn't exactly like it, but, I had no choice, It was either this or bust, so I decided to keep on reading. I did start to get used to it, and grew accustomed to the ads, just casually ignoring them.

However, with the new rumours floating around the 6th edition. I mentioned in a post a while back, aptly named: 6th Edition, Salvation or Destruction?. I was concerned with the future of 40k. One of the things I was excited about is the change they are doing to white dwarf, they were going to bring back chapter approved, cutting out some of the adverts and bringing in more painting / converting master-class. In short, we were going back to the "good old days". Also means we get a say in how the new armies and white dwarf units evolve. I haven't brought it yet, but I had a quick flick through and I can see that they are going bck to their roots.

This could be the start of something good, I don't mind the prices if they do stuff for us like this.

Anyway, Agree, disagree, neutral, different? Stick a comment below.

  1. I use to read white dwarf back in '97. The last one I ever bought was around '01/'02 and back then I use to really enjoy reading them.

I really hope they change back.
